What is the Paint Calculator?
A paint calculator estimates the litres of paint needed to cover a wall or room based on the area and the chosen coverage per litre (typically 100–140 sq.ft. per litre per coat for emulsions).
Formula
Litres = (Area × coats) / coverage per litre
- Coverage — Manufacturer-stated sq.ft. covered per litre per coat
Step-by-step example
Setup: 1,200 sq.ft. wall area, 2 coats, 120 sq.ft./L coverage.
- Total = (1,200 × 2) / 120 = 20 L
Answer: ≈ 20 litres of paint
Frequently asked questions
Should I add primer separately?
